Smoke/CO Detectors
The Clearcreek Fire District does not provide smoke or carbon monoxide (CO) detectors. You can purchase smoke or CO detectors from any home improvement vendor or from a website vendor.
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), CO alarms should be installed in a central location outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home and in other locations where required by applicable laws, codes, or standards. For the best protection, interconnect all CO alarms throughout the home. When one sounds, they all sound.
Per the NFPA, smoke alarms should be installed inside and outside every bedroom and sleeping area (like a hallway). Install smoke detectors on every level of the home, including the basement. A smoke alarm should be on the ceiling or high on a wall. Keep smoke alarms away from the kitchen to reduce nuisance or false alarms.
