Electric Aggregation Agreement
Clearcreek Township Trustees are pleased to announce that residential customers in the AES territory of the township will benefit from some rate relief beginning with their February electric bill.
In a new agreement reached between Dynegy Energy Services East (Dynegy) and the Township, residential customers in the AES service territory of the township will see a new, fixed rate of $0.08499/kWh for electric generation service from January 1, 2023, through May 2025. Many in the AES service territory had seen their rates jump to as high as $0.1091/kWh, or even higher in some cases, since the expiration of the prior electric aggregation agreement earlier in the summer.
While the Board wishes they had been able to find savings in the Duke territory of the township since the expiration of the prior aggregation rates, Duke’s default generation rate of $0.0678/kWh remains considerably less than those customers’ rates in the AES territory, even at the new aggregation price for the AES customers.
The new agreement with Dynegy will last 28 months and, as has been the case with prior aggregation offerings in Clearcreek Township, is an opt-out program. Residential customers in the AES territory will be automatically enrolled in the new rate program in January unless they take action to opt-out of the offering, or they are already under separate, individual contract with another electric generation service.
