Warren County Sheriff's Office Media Release
Scam Alert
September 3, 2024
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office has seen a scam resurfacing in our area. Citizens have reported being contacted by individuals identifying themselves as law enforcement officers and requesting money for various legal reasons.
The caller will identify themselves as an agency employee and possibly provide some information to the victim to validate they are a Sheriff’s Office or other law enforcement agency employee. They will then present a MISSED COURT DATE, OWED FINES, CRIMINAL OFFENSE or COURT PROCESS as the basis for calling. The caller will then request money or some form of electronic transfer to keep warrants from being issued or an arrest being made.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office DOES NOT conduct business in this manner. Our employees do not arrange or accept money from the public in lieu of arrest or to resolve criminal or court-related matters.
This is a SCAM ALERT to help protect our citizens from criminals seeking to defraud them.
If anyone has been a victim of this type of crime, or has information, they can contact the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, at 513-695-1280, the Communications Center at 513-695-2525, or e-mail crimetips@wcsooh.org
